February 1-2—Savannah GA

2010 Georgia Dairy Conference- Bill Rowell and Doug Maddox of DFWT will give an update on our progress to dairy farmers attending the conference on Monday.  We also are eager to hear your questions and ideas.  For more information about the conference, visit www.gamilk.org .  The meeting will be held at the Savannah Marriot Riverfront.

A meeting of coop leaders from across the country and industry stakeholders will take place to assess different plans with a focus on joining forces to form a single plan that will move the industry forward as quickly as possible.

November  2, 2009—Chicago

In early November DFWT will be meeting with dairy farmers and industry leaders in the mid west to discuss industry issues and moving forward on industry change!


Oct. 16, 2009- Vermont Farmers Forum for Dairy Farm Survival

10 a.m. to 3 p.m.at the Campus Center Vermont Technical College Randolph Center.  A panel of invited experts will discuss who is making money from dairying and dairy products, federal pricing of raw milk, and proposed alternatives to current federal pricing.

Following the discussion, the floor will be open for a general discussion.

The following organizations have been invited:  Agri-Mark, Ben & Jerry’s, Cabot Cooperative, Dairy Farmers Working Together, Dairylea Cooperative, Dean Foods, H.P. Hood, St. Albans Cooperative Creamery, U.S. Department of Agriculture.   In addition, Dan Smith of Montpelier, who was general counsel of the former New England Dairy Compact, has been invited.

Vermont’s congressional delegation, Gov. James Douglas, Secretary of Agriculture Roger Allbee or their representatives, along with members of the Vermont House and Senate committees on agriculture have been invited.  For more information, contact Howard Fairman at 802-579-4180.

Sept. 29 – Oct. 3, 2009 — The World Dairy Expo

diary-expoThe World Dairy Expo is the international dairy meeting place, a five day event in Madison, Wisconsin showcasing the finest in dairy genetics and the newest technologies available to the dairy industry.

At this event dairy farmers from across the country met up in our booth to discuss the dpsp and other ideas to support policy change in the industry.  The event was a huge success and has spurred further discussions with groups across the country.
